Full-Time OPSEU Position

Primarily an 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. shift, Monday to Friday.
When required, hours of work may be modified to suit the needs of the University.
Working closely with other members of the development team, this position will be involved with designing, coding, maintaining, testing, and debugging of responsive applications. Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team, the incumbent will create and maintain ERP components, write custom programs, and provide solutions for various departments. Utilizing effective communication and problem-solving skills, the incumbent will actively participate in team meetings and offer recommendations for continuous improvements. The incumbent will supervise, coach and train analysts and programmers. Responsibilities include creating workflow diagrams, exploring alternative solutions, and writing programs, as well as complying with university standards for production, quality and productivity. The Programmer/Analyst I will assess system capabilities and undertake feasibility studies that include financial considerations and timelines. The incumbent will also stay on top of new technology trends, join organizations, attend seminars, conferences and ongoing opportunities for education.
Qualifications for this position includes A Bachelor’s degree and three years of programming experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field is preferred. Programming experience must include fluency in procedural, object-oriented, and functional programming concepts, and experience in at least two of the following: JavaScript, XML, SQL, Python, Ruby, Rust, Go, C/C++, C#, Java, UniBasic. Three years of experience with RDBMS and SQL is required. Two years of experience with .NET framework is required. Experience in the design and programming of computer applications in a team-oriented environment is required. One year of experience in leadership of programming staff is required. Experience with web development is preferred. Work experience in higher education is preferred.
