Part-Time (late August 2017 to mid April 2018)

Lakehead University has the opportunity for a part-time Counsellor in the Student Health & Counselling Centre.  As a member of the Counselling team, you will provide culturally sensitive counselling to students for issues pertaining to mood disorders, stress, relationships, substance abuse, eating disorders, and other mental health issues.  You will collaborate with internal and external health professionals, as well as the university community. 

The successful applicant will usually be scheduled 2.5 days a week during the academic periods; and occasional Saturday morning or early evening shifts may be scheduled. Orientation will begin the last week of August.

The successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Clinical Psychology with a minimum of three years’ related experience.  Additional qualifications include the ability to practice independently using excellent clinical judgment and knowledge of mental health issues affecting young adults.  Registration with the applicable Ontario Regulatory College is mandatory.  Preference will be given to applicants with additional Counselling certifications (e.g. Crisis Intervention, Addictions).
