TRADES ASSISTANT 1

Mechanical / Electrical Maintenance Department

Physical Plant

Full Time

during Summer (May to September)

part-time (September to April)

(Open to students)

 

Full time hours will be between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday

Part-time hours will be between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and

will vary due to the needs of the University and student school schedule

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

?      Perform filter changes to mechanical systems through the University?s computerized work order system;

?      Clean up work area as directed;

?      Assist Mechanics and Electricians as required;

?      Report defects found in HVAC equipment to Lead Hand;

?      Organize filter inventory and provide re-order sheets to Trades Lead Hand Mechanical.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

?      Post-secondary student enrolled in a degree program at Lakehead University;

?      Capable of working independently;

?      Must possess a valid driver?s license;

?      Good organizational abilities, comfortable working in a team environment, good interpersonal skills;

?      Candidate should be mechanically inclined and possess familiarity with building mechanical systems;

?      Must provide own CSA approved safety footwear (coveralls will be supplied by Lakehead University);

?      Familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, its regulations and other health and safety related legislation and standards.
