Desktop Technician 1 (Orillia)

Full time, Annual Salary Range - $51,506 - $64,701

Reporting to the Manager of Technology Services, the successful candidate will provide technical support to the Orillia Campus.  Responsibilities include configuring and maintaining computer systems for student labs, faculty and staff while troubleshooting hardware and software issues. The incumbent will be required to install and maintain current versions of campus software, support and deliver multimedia equipment in classrooms, and prepare rooms for video conferencing and streaming. Additional responsibilities include responding to incident reporting through the Technology Service Centre ticketing system while prioritizing, addressing and following up on tickets.

The successful candidate will possess, at minimum, a computer related post-secondary education and 2 years of related experience, ideally in an education or public sector setting. They will demonstrate a supportive approach, and excellent customer-service and interpersonal skills.  The Technician will be proficient in troubleshooting and resolving technical problems, have the ability to communicate technical information to clients, and be knowledgeable in Windows and MacIntosh operating software. They will be a self-starter with ability to work well independently and in a team and will possess basic networking skills. They are committed to continuous learning, respect confidentiality, adhere to department practices and industry standards, and enjoy providing quality service to a variety of customers with varying levels of knowledge and comfort with computers. Shift work will be required to provide evening & weekend coverage.
