Duration: One Year

 As a Programmer/Analyst at Lakehead University, you will be expected to:

  • Create and maintain ERP components, which include screens, web-forms, reports and subroutines
  • Write custom programs and provide programming solutions for various departments
  • Work closely with the other members of the development team to design and code efficient and effective responsive applications. Test and debug applications.
  • Maintain and modify existing applications.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members to resolve issues.
  • Create clear and concise documentation for all aspects of the design and deployment of web-based applications.
  • Produce accurate and timely estimates of development effort.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and offer ideas and recommendations for design improvement.

 Requirements:

  • A degree in computer science or information systems required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong experience with databases, applications, operating systems and programming.
  • Experience with development platforms and languages (particularly UniBasic, Microsoft Macros, CGI scripts, Shell Scripts, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, Basic, PHP, Drupal, MySQL, Perl, and XML) is desirable. 
  • A basic understanding of the web application development process from the layout/user interface to relational database structure.
  • Solid understanding of web architectures and user-centric design.
  • Demonstrated experience building web sites of increasing complexity.
  • Basic working knowledge of database-driven web site design.
  • Ability to work on several projects at once.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and self-manage to deadlines.
  • Strong customer service focus.
