About this Job

Primarily an 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. shift, Monday to Friday.

When required, hours of work may be modified to suit the needs of the University.

 

Lakehead University has a full-time opportunity within the Technology Service Centre. Reporting to the Manager, Data, Voice and Multimedia, the successful candidate will provide technical support to the administration, staff, faculty, and students by scheduling and troubleshooting production audio/visual and video conferencing hardware, delivery, set up, and support of classroom technology.

 

 

Job Duties

  • Providing technology support for administration, staff, faculty and students
  • Scheduling of conferences and coordinating with faculty, staff, students and off-campus groups to setup classrooms, conferences and assisting with classroom technology
  • Providing support in the use of collaboration and teaching technologies
  • Reviewing, verifying, and confirming technology resource availability
  • Delivering professional development to staff, faculty, students and off-campus groups in classroom, collaborative and conference technologies
  • Gathering measurements and metrics for multimedia events and resource usage
  • Connecting and monitoring conference and collaborative conference technology

 

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree related to multimedia technologies (or equivalent experience) complimented with certification in the same field
  • Interpersonal, communication and troubleshooting skills as well as proficient time management and allocation skills
  • Experience in A/V classroom / meeting space design, knowledge of professional audio, design, and installation, including echo cancellation and sound reinforcement
  • Knowledge and understanding of the operation and maintenance of multimedia and audio/visual equipment used on campus, this includes:
  • Understanding Windows/Mac operating systems and software
  • Thorough understanding of the various classroom presentation and audio technologies
  • Setting up and using PA systems: audio mixers, speakers and wired/wireless mic
  • Understanding and knowledge of collaborative voice and video software, methods and technologies
