myPortal is coming to Lakehead!

This March, Lakehead University will begin migrating to a new online self-service portal for students, employees, and alumni.

Our goal is to stay current with new technology and provide you with a more centralized, self-service hub. With a fresh new look and feel, myPortal will offer a more cohesive digital dashboard and be much more mobile friendly than the current system.

Over the next few months we will be phasing in new experiences for stakeholders that will improve communication and convenience.

The first phase is the introduction of the new online self-services tools in a hub called MyServices. MyServices will launch on March 20. Many services will be undergoing maintenance from the evening of March 15th through to March 20th and may not be available.

Migration Roadmap

Shutdown: Wednesday, March 15 to Friday, March 17

Beginning at 6 pm on Wednesday, March 15, some of the web tools found in MyInfo will be unavailable as we begin migration to MyServices. MyCourselink (D2L), email, and a few other applications will continue to remain accessible through MyInfo.

Final Testing: Saturday, March 18 – Sunday, March 19

The new applications found in MyServices will be made available for final testing

Service Restored: Monday, March 20

The new myServices tools replacing WebAdvisor/WebUI will be up and running. The existing links to services in myInfo will be redirected to the tools found in myServices.

There will be no disruption of service with MyCourselink (D2L) during the transition. We will be enabling a new data bridge to provide students with near real-time access to their classes in D2L when they register, but there are no outages associated with this work.

myPortal Launch: To be Determined

There is still a lot of work to be done to ensure our replacement for MyInfo is ready for the Lakehead University community.

Frequently Asked Questions

The migration from MyInfo to MyPortal will affect students, faculty and staff in different ways. Some will not notice much of a difference, whereas others will experience changes in which they will require support. Below are included some of the most frequently asked questions about the migration.

If you have any questions that do not appear on this list, please email portalcomms@lakeheadu.ca.

Students

What is the reason for the WebAdvisor tools changing to myServices?

The primary reason for this change is to ensure continued support. The current hardware and software will no longer be supported by the vendor. Therefore, the switch to myServices is necessary to maintain a reliable system.

This change will also offer a more user-centered and mobile friendly experience.

Are there any changes on how to access financial information (ie: tax forms, OSAP details, payment access, etc.)?

When you log into myInfo, the landing page will look familiar. Existing links today will help you find the new tools in myServices. In myServices the user-friendly interface will have a menu bar on the left. This is where you can access your Financial Information.

What is the “self-service” hub and how does this change affect students?

The “self- service” hub will be called myServices. myServices will provide newer versions of many of the tools students currently use today. Many of the services available through myServices will already be familiar. There will be resources created for some of the services that are new. There will be some YouTube tutorials available.

When will myPortal be launched?

Lakehead University has not yet determined the exact date for implementation. However, we want to assure you that myServices will be rolled out first, with the tools being made available through myInfo in the interim.

The timing for the migration is right at the end of the academic term. How will this transition impact final assignment submission in late March and final exams that are held online in April?

myCourselink will continue to function smoothly during the transition. There is no planned outage for myCourselink as part of these changes.
