Faculty of Engineering at Lakehead University invites applications for the prestigious Industrial Research Chair in Critical Minerals Processing. This multi-million-dollar research chair is funded by a consortium involving Green Technology Metals, Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, and the University. This Chair provides extraordinary opportunity for establishing a technology-based hub for advanced research into the processing of critical materials. Since this is a Research Chair, teaching assignments will be reduced accordingly.

This tenure or tenure-track position is available in July 2023, although alternate start dates may be arranged.

We are seeking outstanding scholars at any academic level who are natural collaborators and relationship builders. The goal of the Chair is to cross-pollinate activities between the University, industry and government agencies, and assisting in a rapid growth in the area of processing critical minerals. We are seeking a person that's able to not only conduct excellent research but also add vigour to stimulate University-wide initiatives, including establishing a Centre of Excellence in this area.

Candidates must have Ph.D. in relevant area of engineering, with preference for a first degree in engineering. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association is required.

The Faculty is committed to excellence in teaching and values service contributions of its members to the University, the profession, and society at large. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to the mission of the University, demonstrated through outstanding activities in the areas of research, teaching, and service. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
