Part-Time Contract, 10-months

Reporting to the Chair of Undergraduate Studies in Education (USE), the Program Coordinator will assist in the development of our new Technological Education diploma and degree programs, including program design, coordination and delivery. The position may be based in either Thunder Bay or Orillia.

 

The Program Coordinator is responsible for promoting and supporting excellence and innovation by guiding strategic planning and the creation of these new programs. The successful applicant will have experience in one or more of the trades that comprise the Technological Education curriculum. It is expected that, as the programs develop, the Coordinator will coordinate all aspects of the program, including supporting and advising students, liaising with schools and the community to create partnerships, overseeing Practicum placements across both campuses, and ensuring the program accreditation standards of the Ontario College of Teachers are met. 

 

The Program Coordinator must have excellent skills in leadership and program management (recruiting and retaining highly skilled instructors and program developers, leading and supporting administrative staff), external liaison (fostering relationships with school boards and educational organizations), and financial management, and marketing and promotion experience.

 

DUTIES

 

  • Experience working as a Technological Education teacher in a high school in Ontario, preferably with qualification in more than one broad-based technology area, and experience at both the 9/10 and 11/12 curriculum levels;
  • Solid leadership experience in an education environment;
  • Experience in program development is an asset;
  • Is accessible with a consultative and collaborative management style;
  • Record of dealing fairly and respectfully with teachers, students, other administrators, and stakeholders;
  • Outstanding human relations, communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • Strong critical-thinking skills and creative problem-solving skills.

 

Note that the position will involve some travel to partner boards in Northwest Ontario and the Simcoe County region.
