You are an enthusiastic, dynamic individual who is excited by the opportunity to join a team that supports student learning in the School of Social Work. Under the supervision of the Director of Social Work, and in collaboration with the Field team in Orillia and Thunder Bay campuses, the Community Liaison is responsible for the on-going development, maintenance, and evaluation of the HBSW field education placement opportunities in Orillia. 

 

Role & Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop new undergraduate and graduate social work field placements that meet CASWE accreditation standards
  • Update and modernize the database of placement agencies accessed by the school
  • Suggest strategies for future placement initiatives
  • Serving as an off-site field supervisor for students 
  • Maintain and enhance web-based resources for off-site supervisor learning
  • Work with current field coordinators to adopt the ORBIS database to provide support to off-site supervisors
  • Work with internal partners to create additional accreditation approved placement
  • Work with community partners through committee membership
  • This position requires a minimum of one day a week presence on Orillia Campus to establish close working relationships with staff and faculty

 

Qualifications:

 

The successful applicant will have an MSW degree with a minimum of 5 years post degree experience and be registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.  Knowledge of community resources in Simcoe, Muskoka, York, Durham, Peel, and Toronto is essential. Prior experience in Field Education or Social Work Education would be a strong asset for this position, as would experience working in a University setting.  The successful applicant will have strong program management, organizational, communication, and time management skills. Local travel is expected in this position, therefore a valid driver licence and access to a vehicle is a required.
