The Administrative Assistant is primarily responsible for providing administrative support to the Electrical and Software department chairs, Contract Lecturers and students.  This position is the first point of contact for the Department and acts as a liaison between students, staff, and other University departments.  The successful applicant will be responsible for organizing and maintaining various paper and electronic files which may involve confidential information, as well as handling and preparing sensitive/confidential materials. Organizing meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and producing and disseminating of meeting material, will be required as needed. The position is also responsible for preparing financial, academic, and administrative forms following standard University policies and procedures.

 

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education in Office Administration, Business, or a related field along with at least 2 years of administrative assistant experience. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Colleague/Datatel. The ideal candidate will have the ability to adapt and learn new systems and software as required. The incumbent must have exceptional organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills. The Administrative Assistant must have ability to multitask a variety of high priority duties and work under pressure of deadlines; ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to work with sensitive information and handle all office duties in a confidential manner.
