Full-Time, 2-Year Contract (possibility of renewal)

The RAC position is a full-time, live-in staff member.  On-site housing and a meal plan are provided and are in addition to remuneration. Due to the nature of Residence Operations, the successful incumbent is required to work irregular hours including weekends and holidays and participate in an On-Call rotation.

 

Reporting to the Manager of Residence, Food and Conference Services, the Residence Area Coordinator will promote and facilitate student success by ensuring emotional, physical, mental and social well-being of Residence students through organized social and educational programming as well as direct and indirect interaction.  Specific responsibilities include supervising a  team of 10 Resident Assistants and Residence Council members, planning and executing Move-In Day, Residence Orientation, Move-Out and other events in collaboration with Residence and Conference Services.  Additionally, the incumbent will conduct Residence Life staff training, set and monitor budgets for Residence Council, review and assess incident reports as well as represent Residence on various University committees.

 

The ideal candidate will have a university degree and experience living in a college or university residence. Specific skills include the ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, multitask as well as work under pressure and meet deadlines as required.  The incumbent will also possess excellent interpersonal and leadership skills along with the ability to handle all matters in a confidential manner.  Proficiency in all multimedia and social media is an asset. Proven record of crisis and incident management skills required.
