Coaching Contract - September 5, 2022 - March 31, 2023

 

Lakehead University Orillia is a member of Ontario Collegiate Recreation (OCR). We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to work as Head Coach of our Men’s Extramural Hockey program. This is a yearly casual role compensated with an honorarium during the Hockey season. Reporting to the Athletics and Wellness Coordinator, Orillia, the Men’s Extramural Hockey coach will oversee the development of the Men’s Extramural Hockey program through the continued development of our student athletes.

 

Duties

-        Player selection and evaluation

-        Develop, implement, and evaluate annual training plans for the team and individual players including skills development, strength and conditioning and technical preparation and implementation of tactics and strategies

-        Conduct practices and attend all games and tournaments

-        Travel with the team to competitions on university provided transportation

-        Oversee the health and safety of participants

-        Encourage student athletes to maintain and develop strong academic standing

-        Act as a representative of Lakehead University and conduct oneself in a professional manner in accordance with University policy

-        The head coach will follow OCR policies and procedures and lead by example.

Some evenings and weekend work is required

 

Qualifications:

-        At least 5 years of coaching and/or training experience. 

-        Coaching and training certifications are preferred. 

-        Must be committed to the team by attending all practices and games including weekdays, evenings and weekends.

-        Ability to interact with and mentor athletes within a post-secondary setting by utilizing effective organizational, communication, interpersonal, leadership and team building skills. 

-        Standard First Aid and CPR certificate is required.
