As an ambassador for Lakehead University, the Community Zone’s Marketing and Communications

Associate is an integral member of both the Community Zone and the External Relations Team.

Reporting to the Director of the Community Zone, this position is responsible for assisting to achieve

the marketing/branding objectives of the Community Zone through providing a collaborative and

coordinated approach to all our audiences.

 

The incumbent will be responsible for working with university units to provide guidance and direction on marketing projects and initiatives from inception to completion. The individual will act as a key point of contact for prioritizing, planning, managing and implementing communication and marketing initiatives for Community Zone constituents via university approved designers and photographers. This position will be responsible for all graphic design, social media, and coordination of graphic design services that relates to the Community Zone. This position performs a critical role in the planning, execution and monitoring of Marketing Campaigns, as it relates to Community Zone priorities, as well as key pan-University initiatives – Strategic Plan, Academic Plan, Lakehead for Life Alumni Plan), EDI Action Plan, and internal and external branding.

 

The Marketing and Communications Associate is the contact for departments and faculties to ensure all marketing materials and publications produced for the Community Zone -- in a variety of media -- conform to the University's brand guidelines and support the institution's mission, vision, and strategic objectives both in content and delivery.The successful candidate must possess post-secondary education in marketing, graphic design or relevant discipline with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the post-secondary or not-for-profit sector. The incumbent must have experience with graphic art/design and knowledge of design programs (Adobe Creative Suites) required, as well as knowledge and experience in social media, website design, functionality and implementation.

 

The successful candidate must also have demonstrated knowledge of marketing concepts and principles, with an ability to incorporate both traditional and new communications technologies in initiatives. The incumbent must have the ability to adapt to changing environments and meet multiple deadlines, and to work well under pressure with discretion and tact, as well as, a high level of initiative and strong sense of ownership to achieve results for the overall organization.

 

This position can be based out of Lakehead University’s Thunder Bay Campus, Orillia Campus, or Toronto Office. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this position will require the incumbent to work remotely from home, until otherwise instructed.
