The Employer Relations Specialist identifies and develops relationships with employers to facilitate career opportunities for students and alumni. The Specialist organizes outreach and communications, and strategically plans and delivers careers programming involving external employers and community partners.
This position leads employer relations initiatives, while supporting student and graduate employment and career skills development, with a focus on furthering Lakehead University’s goals of equity, diversity and inclusion, positive employment experiences, and improved career outcomes.
The successful candidate will possess:
• Post-Secondary degree in a related field;
• 3 years of related experience, ideally within a student-focused environment;
• Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships with community partners and respond
to student and employer needs;
• Experience with event and program planning and implementation, including financial management
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;
• Clearly demonstrated organizational, time management, and good judgment skills;
• Ability to develop and evaluate operational procedures and set administrative priorities;
• Competent in working with a diverse post secondary community, including all levels of
management, staff, and students;
• Ability to manage a long range vision as well as immediate detail;
• Capable of working under pressure and to balance numerous and conflicting demands; and
• Experience adopting new technologies, such as applications common to a virtual office
environment to accommodate hybrid services and events.
