The Executive Assistant provides a broad and diverse range of confidential administrative support to the Vice-President (VPRI) ensuring efficient office operation. Specifically, the incumbent will ensure the VPRI is appropriately prepared to pursue the business of the Office by conducting necessary research and providing suggested courses of action as well as ensuring relevant background or supporting materials for meetings and appointment are prepared. The successful candidate will coordinate travel, manage the Vice-President’s schedule, prepare correspondence, work directly with the direct reports, and direct inquiries to the appropriate department. Additional responsibilities include providing support to the Senate Research and Regional Research Committees as well as participating as a member of the Professional Assistant Working Group (PAWG). The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing communication materials for the office. Thus, good writing skills and knowledge of alternative to print media is desirable. It is the expectation that the Executive Assistant will also monitor the budget including reconciliation of financial transactions, resolving issues, and other related duties.

The successful candidate has a post-secondary education coupled with demonstrated experience in a high-level administrative support role. Additional qualifications include knowledge of governance processes, university policies and procedures as well as financial regulations and policies. With an appreciation of political relationships, the incumbent has superior interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate must be able to work independently with little supervision in a demanding, high-pressure environment. Respect for a strict code of confidentiality is essential.
