Under the general direction of the University Librarian, the Indigenous Curriculum Specialist will support Indigenous curriculum, community service learning and other related strategic initiatives. The incumbent to this role will provide consultation and support services for faculty and staff related to resources, instructional design, strategies, assessment, technology, and the integration of learning technologies addressing the learner outcomes supporting Indigenous knowledge and/or content. The incumbent will work with faculty, staff and students to create learning environments in which Indigenous students feel safe and are able to provide input into ensuring curricula is in keeping with Indigenous worldviews.

The ideal candidate has a Masters or PhD degree in instructional design, instructional technology, Indigenous Studies or related field. The incumbent to this role should also have teaching experience at the post-secondary level, along with a demonstrated ability to support faculty in teaching and learning experiences.  Experience working with Indigenous people and community groups is also required, where the incumbent has direct experience and knowledge with Indigenous cultures, communities, customs, practices and communication styles. Demonstrated knowledge of an Indigenous language is considered to be an asset.  The incumbent will have an understanding of AODA customer service standards, as well as the ability to apply learning theory and methods to the use of educational technologies. Additionally, the incumbent will have excellent communication, presentation, customer service, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
