Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Human Resources, the Human Resources Assistant is responsible for processing payroll forms associated with part-time hourly employees and Graduate Assistants.  Specifically, the incumbent will answer inquiries from employees and supervisors, ensure correctness of information, and enter employment details into the Datatel system.  Additional duties include overseeing the Moving & Travel process for reimbursement, collecting monthly benefit premiums for retirees and employees on leave, as well as answering general inquiries from students, faculty, staff and the general public and providing relief for the front-line.
 
The successful candidate will have a post secondary education coupled with one year of related experience, preferably in a human resource environment.  Proficient with MS Word and Excel, Internet, and email applications, you also are familiar with database systems ideally including Datatel and payroll processing.  Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skill along with excellent spelling and grammar skills are a must.  The incumbent will have the ability to work within a culturally diverse environment and to work and handle all office duties in a confidential manner.  Familiarity with employment related legislation and the ability to multitask would be an asset.
