Under general supervision of the Head of
Technical Services, the E-Resources Technician will work with the Library's
e-resource collection to provide accurate and reliable access and information
for library users. The following is a brief outline of the responsibilities. A
job fact sheet detailing the required duties is available in the Office of
Human Resources.

DUTIES:
">">">
">- Day-to-day maintenance of
the library's link resolver site (SFX) by identifying relevant e-journal
packages and individual e-journals, checking availability and holdings and
accurately activating and editing SFX records.
- Oversee USTAT usage
statistics management software and prepare usage and other reports.
- Update the Library's online
catalogue by loading monthly files of new e-journal bibliographical records and
deleting bibliographical records for e-journals that are no longer
available.
- Correct MARC cataloguing
for e-journal format.

">- Troubleshoot access
problems with e-journals.
- Maintain administration
accounts with e-resource vendors including providing IP range information and
managing passwords.

">- Other e-resource-related
activities such as maintaining the proxy configuration file, updating license
terms to the OUR database and managing the broken link report for the online
catalogue.
- Provide in-person
assistance to library users at public service points.

">QUALIFICATIONS:
Post-secondary degree or diploma or
equivalent experience, Library Technician diploma preferred;
Demonstrated proficiency with PC's, and
various office programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), internet, email,
as well as SFX and Voyager etc.;
"> Experience with e-journal administration
and management along with cataloguing experience;

Ability to work independently and as part
of a team;
Excellent communication, organizational and
interpersonal skills;
Ability to work within a culturally diverse
environment;
Ability to work and handle all duties with
a high degree of accuracy and detail;
"> Ability to multitask and work under the
pressure of deadlines;

Familiarity with the Occupational Health
& Safety Act, its regulations and other health and safety related
legislation and standard experience in a service-related environment.
