$46,640.24 - $58,300.05
Reporting to the Director, the Student Success Advisor will work with students on a one-on-one basis, through the development of meaningful relationships, in assisting students in discovering their academic and career goals and in the creating of plans that lead to the achievement of those goals. The SSA (Orillia) will oversee and fulfill a variety of student success programs, events and supports that contribute to the overall retention rates of the university while improving the student experience and satisfaction. This role bears specific responsibilities relating to Student Success Advising, Gateway and At-Risk supports, Orientation and First-Year Programming, Leadership and other student engagement services.

The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 1-2 years related experience in large-scale event planning and logistics, have knowledge of risk management practices, usage of social media and emerging communication channels, an understanding of presentation software, spreadsheet software, and fundraising and engagement techniques. A strong knowledge of advising and student development theory and the student life cycle, an understanding of career development theory (especially Strong Interest Inventory, Myers Briggs Type Indicator and StrengthsQuest), and an understanding of leadership theory and working with at-risk populations is considered an asset.
Additional qualifications include the ability to develop and present information to large groups, to multitask, to adjust to shifting priorities, to work independently, to prioritize a high volume of time-sensitive projects, to communicate effectively, and the ability to lead and motivate volunteers.
