Salary Range $40,000 to $44,000 per year
12 month contract, possible renewal for up to five years

The Biomass Utilization Research Laboratory (BURL) of Lakehead University is heavily involved in research on various aspects of forest biorefinery. The lab is currently collaborating with various private sectors and receives funds from different federal, provisional and local funding agencies. The lab hosts 20 researchers who are graduate students or post-doctoral fellows of environmental engineering, chemistry and material science, biotechnology and natural research management programs. The lab contains research facilities with the value of approximately $2 million. The Biomass Utilization Research Laboratory, under the supervision of Dr. Pedram Fatehi of Lakehead University is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Research Associate and Laboratory Technician in order to improve research productivity. The candidate has four main roles:
1) operation, service and maintenance of research equipment,
2) managing research projects,
3) providing service to clients via conducting analytical tests and
4) conducting fundamental/applied research under Dr. Fatehi's supervision.

The candidate should have a PhD in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, chemistry or related field, and has some experience with working GPC, HPLC, GC, GC-MS and other equipment that is found: www.pfatehi.lakeheadu.ca
