One-Year Contract, Band 4

$47,106.65 - $58,883.05

Reporting to the Manager, Student Success Centre, the Student Success Advisor (Programs and Assessments) will work with students on a one-on-one basis, through the development of meaningful relationships, to assist students in discovering their academic and career goals and in the creation of plans that lead to the achievement of these goals.

Advisors provide comprehensive information and consultation to the broader university community regarding academic policies and procedures and contribute to the overall retention rate, while improving student experience and satisfaction. This role also has specific responsibility for advising students admitted through the Gateway program, providing success advising for student athletes, and developing assessment plans for all programs to evaluate the services delivered by the SSC.

The successful candidate will possess an undergraduate degree along with knowledge of advising and student development theories and career assessments (e.g. Strong Interest Inventory, Myers Briggs Type Indicator). The ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty and staff, and advanced interpersonal, communication and time management skills are critical.  Additional qualifications include the ability to work with at-risk student populations, a strong understanding of best practices in student support services as well as the ability to evaluate student transcripts. Knowledge of the student life cycle, university programming requirements, regulations, and services is considered an asset.
