Department of Health Sciences - 11 month Limited Term Appointment

Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for a term-limited appointment in the Department of Health Sciences (11 months; September 1, 2016 to July 31, 2017). Preference will be given to applicants with a completed PhD in the field of Biostatistics or Epidemiology, although applicants with a PhD in other areas of Health Sciences who have previously taught courses in epidemiology and/or statistics are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Health Sciences currently offers Master of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Health Sciences (MHSc) programs, where students have the option of completing a specialization in Epidemiology, Indigenous and Northern Health, or Gerontology. The Department also collaborates with the School of Nursing to offer MPH students a Specialization in Nursing (which also integrates a Nurse Practitioner program, i.e., MPH-NP), and with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine to offer an MPH-MD program. The MPH program`s acknowledged expertise in distance and technology-assisted programming supports the educational needs of current and aspiring public health professionals by offering flexible full time and distance learning options.

The successful applicant will be expected to participate actively in the MPH and MHSc programs. The incumbent will also develop a strong research program in his/her area of expertise, in a milieu in which current faculty members are very active researchers.
