Postdoctoral Fellow
Overview
Lakehead University, Photonics Research Group, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position to work on a project to develop a Quantum Sensing device for the detection and quantification of trace chemicals. The project is interdisciplinary in nature and involves researchers from the areas of soil science, agriculture, photonics, medicine, and spectroscopy.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research on assigned projects, collaborate with graduate students (PhD and MSc), and take a leading role in the development of the device. The position is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension based on the availability of funds.
Qualifications
The candidate should have a PhD in Photonics, gas spectroscopy or a related area. Experience in Raman spectroscopy and various spectroscopic techniques, good knowledge of optical instruments and active components (e.g., Fiber Laser, Amplifier), and Programming experience with LABVIEW, MATLAB, and other simulation software would be an asset.
