Overview


This role will manage all operational (maintenance, repair, modification and technical support) aspects of the Mechanical and Electrical campus wide infrastructure and building specific systems. The Manager of Operations will supervise trades staff and contractors in on-going maintenance, repair and modification of the Mechanical and Electrical campus wide infrastructure and building specific systems.

Responsibilities


  • Provide guidance and planning to ensure the systems perform reliably. Recommend and implement maintenance and repair processes.
  • Provide technical support via Engineering expertise and from experience for project planning or execution, as well as for day-to-day maintenance and repair activities.
  • Provide front line supervision of Mechanical and Electrical trades staff as required to meet day-to-day requirements of the campus and as per Ministry of Labour, Union Agreement and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Receive and approve operating expenses as they pertain to the budgeted accounts assigned to Operations of Mechanical and Electrical systems. Be aware of and work within assigned budget values.
  • Be responsible for ensuring legal code compliance for all regulated operating systems on the campus including life safety systems such as fire protection and operating pressure vessels. Maintain maintenance contracts for life safety system contractors who are charged with the maintenance and repair of these systems. Knowledge and experience with the Electrical Safety Code, various TSSA regulations, and the Ontario Fire Code is required.

Qualifications


  • Professional Engineering degree.
  • Professional Engineer Ontario license and registration.
  • PEO Technical knowledge of Mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, heating, boilers) and Electrical systems (power distribution) and infrastructure that are currently employed on the campus.
  • Knowledge of applicable Codes and Legislation.
  • Ability to work on several on-going tasks at the same time and able to absorb new, unplanned tasks at a moment’s notice.
  • Supervisory skills and experience.
