Mechanic Trades 3
Overview
Lakehead University is seeking a skilled Mechanic Trades 3 to join the Physical Plant team. This position performs journeyman-level mechanical maintenance and repair work to support the safe and efficient operation of campus mechanical systems and equipment.
The successful candidate will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of mechanical systems across campus facilities while ensuring compliance with safety standards and university procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical maintenance work through the University’s computerized work order system.
- Inspect, investigate, and troubleshoot issues related to mechanical systems and equipment.
- Perform skilled mechanical work at the journeyman level.
- Provide estimates for repair and maintenance work on campus mechanical systems.
- Maintain accurate reports, records, and documentation related to work orders, requisitions, upgrades, and system changes.
- Follow all safety procedures and take reasonable precautions for the protection of workers and equipment.
- Ensure work is completed in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, related legislation, and university safety procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Several years of directly related journeyman experience in a maintenance environment.
- Valid Journeyman License / Certificate of Qualification in one or more of the following trades:
- Plumber
- Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic
- Sheet Metal Worker
- Steamfitter
- Valid Gasfitter 2 Certificate or higher.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate is considered an asset.
