Postdoctoral Fellow in Knowledge Mobilization & Implementation
Overview
The Postdoctoral Fellow in Knowledge Mobilization & Implementation will be responsible for advancing the science of implementation at the EPID@Work Research Institute. Unlike a traditional communications role, this position focuses on designing and researching how evidence is best adopted in workplaces. Under the leadership of Dr. Vicki Kristman, the successful candidate will apply implementation science frameworks (specifically Knowledge-to-Action [KTA] and RE-AIM) to design, create, and test knowledge mobilization products (e.g., tools, training) that bridge the gap between OHS research and practice.
Term and Renewal:
This position is for an initial 1-year term. It is renewable for up to two additional years, but renewal will occur on an annual basis, subject to funding availability and performance.
Research Environment:
Members of the Institute conduct research in three main research areas: mental health in the workplace; equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (IDEA); and knowledge mobilization. This is an excellent opportunity for new PhD graduates in Knowledge Translation, Implementation Science, Health Services Research, or Organizational Psychology to apply their training and build an independent program of research. The research fellow will benefit from an active, well-funded interdisciplinary research environment with multiple opportunities for publication. The stipend is highly competitive and commensurate with experience. Opportunities for the fellow to apply for independent funding will be available and encouraged.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and creation of KMI products (e.g., digital tools, training modules, toolkits) based on research evidence and evaluate their implementation in real-world settings.
- Apply theoretical frameworks (e.g., RE-AIM) to identify barriers and facilitators to the adoption of OHS evidence in Northwestern Ontario workplaces.
- Provide guidance on KMI best practices to research staff and students, fostering a culture of & integrated knowledge mobilization" (iKT).
- Design and execute research studies that test the effectiveness of different knowledge mobilization strategies (e.g., comparing digital tools vs. workshop-based dissemination).
- Write and publish manuscripts in high-impact peer-reviewed journals on the topic of implementation science and KMI outcomes.
- Present research findings at academic conferences and stakeholder meetings to influence policy and practice.
Qualifications
- Passionate about Occupational Health and Safety.
- A Ph.D. degree in Knowledge Translation, Implementation Science, Organizational Psychology, Health Services Research, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in designing KMI tools/strategies and evaluating their impact using qualitative or quantitative research methods. Familiarity with integrated Knowledge Translation (iKT) approaches is essential.
- Strong understanding of implementation frameworks (specifically RE-AIM and KTA).
- Evidence of manuscript preparation and publication, with a focus on applied research or KMI.
- Excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills; results-oriented work ethic; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience working with community stakeholders or in occupational health settings.
