Overview


The Senior Research Analyst (Business Intelligence) plays a key role in supporting institutional planning, policy development, and evidence-based decision-making at Lakehead University.
Reporting to the Vice-Provost, Institutional Planning and Analysis, this position leads the planning, design, development, and deployment of complex analytical systems and reporting solutions to meet internal and external stakeholder needs. The role operates at the intersection of data analytics, institutional research, and strategic planning, contributing to areas such as admissions, enrolment, student retention and graduation, teaching, and the student experience.

Responsibilities


  • Lead and conduct qualitative, quantitative, and statistical analyses to support institutional planning and decision-making
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and present data from large and complex datasets
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate key findings to senior leadership
  • Conduct institutional research and lead research projects from design through data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Support institutional policy response, accountability reporting, and data submissions to provincial and national bodies
  • Contribute to program planning, new program development, and cyclical program and accreditation reviews
  • Champion data quality, process improvement, and innovative approaches to analytics and reporting
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and participate in committees and sector- wide research initiatives

Qualifications


  • Honours degree required (Master’s degree preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in academic research or a related field
  • Expert-level proficiency in Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong working knowledge of SPSS and database software, with the ability to learn internal systems
  • Demonstrated strengths in quantitative, qualitative, and statistical analysis
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
