Our in-person Orientation to Campus Tours are designed to familiarize our incoming students and their supporters (if applicable) with their new campus at Lakehead University! In these tours, incoming students  are shown where all the buildings are, how to get to your classes, great study spots and locate our various student supports and much more! Our live, guided tours are hosted by our Orientation to Campus Tour Guides.  

Orillia campus:  Orientation to Campus Tours will start at Simcoe Hall and will begin promptly at the starting time. Each tour is approximately 30-45 minutes in length.

Sharpen your Skills

Are you looking for ways to optimize your math skills and get ahead of the game before starting your academic program at Lakehead? Then Math Bootcamp is just the thing you're looking for! Math Bootcamp 2023 is a free, online course offered by the Lakehead University Student Success Centre for all incoming students.

The Details

The goal of this optional bootcamp is to provide you with an opportunity to refresh your mathematical skills in order to be ready for your first day at Lakehead.

• These bootcamps are designed as a partially self-guided course with tutoring support, Math Bootcamp is broken down into 4, week-long modules.
• Each module includes an instructional lesson and weekly assignment (with answer sheet) to ensure you are grasping key concepts.
• You are encouraged to go at your own pace and fit the program within your current schedule.
• If you need assistance, course instructor is available twice a week for virtual office hours and group tutoring support via Zoom.
• These Zoom groups will also be a great opportunity for you to meet future classmates.

How to Register 

*If you haven’t already done so, you must accept your Offer of Admission first

1. Go to mycourselink.lakeheadu.ca
2. Log into MyCourselink using your Lakehead username and password.
3. Under the "Help" menu on the right-hand side of your screen, click the "Self-Register" link.
4. Click the "Math Bootcamp August 2023 For All Students" link and complete the self-registration.

Free fun for all students! Featuring music, a bouncy castle,a jousting arena, a dunk tank, giveaways and prizes, a photo booth, cotton candy, and snow cones. Check out the Clubs' Fair to learn about student life. Plus grab free fruits and veggies from the student union’s Fresh Market, a part of the Food Resource Collective, and check out info tables on your student union services! This is your big welcome the students’ union, open to all students new and returning.

Join us for a fun-filled day exploring your new home! You'll get the chance to discover the public transportation system while travelling to the downtown area to compete a bingo-style scavenger hunt featuring local favourite restaurants and businesses, and some interesting landmarks that serve as awesome photo-ops.

Please note that if you are interested in purchasing food or goods at any of the stores featured on the bingo card, you will be responsible for providing your own money to make these purchases. Transportation via the bus system will be covered as long as you have picked up your U-pass (bus pass sticker) from LUSU beforehand.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This event will run Rain or Shine... Dress for the weather. 

This event will lead right into the Pirate Party at the Port of Orillia where you will be able to hand in your completed bingo cards and then enjoy the festivities!

Your official welcome to Lakehead University! Gather with other incoming students and listen to a welcome address will be made by Lakehead University Orillia's interim Principal, Dr. Linda Rodenburg. Directly after the Lakehead Welcome you can join the Orillia community for a night full of fun, s’mores, music and more!

 Family, friends, and supporters are welcome to attend.

Join us at our Faculty and Program Meet & Greet to meet some of the faculty and staff members of your program, as well as the peers you'll be learning with. At Lakehead we offer many services to students and you will be able to learn about what academic support services are offered to help you succeed in your program. Take part in our connector bingo card created to help you meet your staff, peers, and student services, and have your chance to win some great prizes. During the Meet & Greet, light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
