Co-operative Education and Work Integrated Learning Canada
Lakehead University's co-operative education program follows the guidelines under the Co-operative Education and Work Integrated Learning Canada (CEWIL).
Each year, CEWIL hosts National Co-op Week, to celebrate Co-op students and employers. During this week, students, employers and co-op educators are recognized for their hard work, dedication and continued support of creating co-op employment opportunities for our students.
In addition, CEWIL also has their National Co-op Student of the Year award. The winning student, their institution and employers will receive national recognition as a result of this award. In addition, the winners will receive a $1000.00 cash award (The Emery-Dufault award valued at $500 and the CEWIL award valued at $500.00).
Lakehead University's Co-operative Education Program will select and submit nominations for two students each year.
Criteria For Selection:
- Contribution to Co-operative Education (i.e. co-op ambassador, assisting and promoting co-operative education);
- Co-op job achievement;
- Personal statement;
- Student's Resume;
- Contribution to extra-curricular activities at school and/or the community;
- Academic Achievement;
- Overall assessment and personal comments by the Employer and the Co-op and Employer Relations Officer
Education at Work Ontario is the voice of Post-Secondary Co-operative Education in Ontario. The mission of EWO is to advocate and facilitate co-operative education as an essential component of post-secondary education.
EWO also host a Co-op Student of the Year Award, where the recipient will be presented with a certificated valued at $500.
The National Co-op Student of the Year Award is awarded by EWO., nominations for the award will be selected by the Co-op and Employer Relations Officer and submitted to EWO directly. For more information about this award, please visit http://www.ewo.ca/site/student-of-the-year-award
