Kim Weishar Joins Faculty as Intermediate/Senior Division Coordinator
The Faculty is pleased to welcome Kim Weishar into the new role of Intermediate/Senior Division Coordinator at Lakehead’s Orillia campus.
Kim will support Intermediate/Senior Teacher Candidates and Faculty Advisors, lead the advising team, connect with education partners, and support the planning and implementation of the new 12-month Bachelor of Education program launching in May 2027. Her appointment completes the Faculty of Education’s complement of Professional Experiences Coordinators across both campuses.
Kim brings a wealth of experience to the role, including 32 years in public education as a teacher, guidance counsellor, principal, superintendent, and consultant. She is also very familiar with Lakehead’s Faculty of Education, as she works as a Contract Lecturer and has previously served as a Faculty Advisor.
Reflecting on her new role, Kim says, “It is very exciting to me to now have a role in supporting new educators. They are the future of our education system, and making sure they are well prepared to start their careers as I am reaching the end of mine is truly an honour.”
Kim particularly enjoys working with Teacher Candidates and watching “these burgeoning professionals develop their skills as new teachers.” She looks forward to continuing that work by collaborating with faculty colleagues, teachers, and Teacher Candidates to support strong and meaningful practicum experiences.
Outside of work, Kim enjoys spending time with her family, lifting at the gym, and trying to wrangle her Golden Doodle, Tilly.
Welcome to the team, Kim!
