Environment/Equipment/Aids in the Classroom

Students with accommodations of environmental (room) accommodations, specific equipment or aids in class have provided medical documentation from the student’s healthcare professional that details the functional limitations barriers a student’s faces due to their disability and/or medical condition.

Accessible room, accessible desk/ chair, podium

SAS will work with Lakehead University Scheduling or Physical Plant to change classrooms or provide equipment. 

Students must notify SAS of the need for accommodation required for an accessible environment or equipment in a classroom.

 Aids - Calculator, Dictionary

Calculator and Dictionary

The Student is responsible to bring the aid(s) to class.

  • In some circumstances the aid(s) may impede the essential requirements of the course and or program and may not be allowed. “The instructor shall consult with Dean and collaborate with SAS to discuss alternative solutions related to the accommodation plan if necessary”. Appropriate alternative solutions could include a multiplication table, word list etc. (The Policy)
