2026 Summer Diploma-to-Degree Program

This year's Summer Diploma-to-Degree program for transfer students begins on June 13, 2026 with a two-day online orientation including sessions on academic planning, student clubs and activities, and an introduction to life as a post-diploma transfer student at Lakehead. The online summer courses begin on Monday June 15.

The 2026 Summer Diploma-to-Degree program has three parts:

  • Orientation: Saturday, June 13 - Sunday, June 14 (online)
  • Part 1: Monday, June 15 - Friday, July 10 (online courses)
  • Part 2: Monday, July 13 - Wednesday, August 5 (online courses)
  • Part 3: Monday, August 17 - Monday, August 31 (in-person labs / tutorials / exams)

Students are assigned two courses for Part 1 and two courses for Part 2.

2026 Schedule

All times listed are Eastern Standard Time (EST)

Part 1 (Online)

Dates: Monday, June 15, 2026 - Friday, July 10, 2026

The online classes take place Monday to Friday, as well as online classes on three Saturdays (June 20, June 27 & July 4). There are no classes on Wednesday, July 1 (Canada Day). 

Students are assigned ENGI 3021, and either ENGI 3015 or ENGI 3017 depending on the BEng program they are entering.

Part 2 (Online)

Dates: Monday, July 13, 2026 - Wednesday, August 5, 2026

The online classes take place Monday to Friday, as well as online classes on three Saturdays (July 18, July 25 & August 1). There are no classes on Monday, August 3 (Civic Holiday).

Students are assigned ENGI 3022 or ENGI 3053, and either ENGI 3014 or ENGI 3016 depending on the BEng program they are entering.

Part 3 (In-Person @ Thunder Bay Campus)

The in-person component of the Summer Diploma-to-Degree program is made up of in-person labs for students who are assigned the ENGI 3014 - Engineering Chemistry course, and in-person tutorials and final exams for all students.

Dates: Monday, August 17, 2026 – Friday, August 28, 2026

Chemistry Labs for students assigned the ENGI 3014 - Engineering Chemistry course will take place in-person at Lakehead's Thunder Bay campus. These are delivered in slots of 3 hours per day. The instructor of this course will provide details and the final schedule.
