FUTURE BUILDERS:
Indigenous Engineering Pathways

FUTURE BUILDERS is a pioneering Indigenous-led initiative that supports Indigenous youth as they explore futures in Engineering, Science, Technology, and Mathematics – all grounded in culture, community, and Indigenous ways of knowing. This interdisciplinary initiative is intended to advance Indigenous youth participation in engineering and STEM by co-creating culturally grounded, community-driven learning pathways that blend traditional knowledge with modern innovation and career trajectories.

This will include outreach programming for students in Northwestern Ontario beginning in Fall 2026, and later in 2026 and early 2027 it will expand to include Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. The emphasis will be on engaging Indigenous youth and their communities to promote sustainable engineering.

This initiative is supported by a grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) PromoScience program.
