Lakehead University Mail Services
At the Thunder Bay Campus the Mail Services department picks up and delivers mail to over 90 mail locations both on and off campus in approximately 20 buildings. In Orillia the Mail Services is handled through the Residence.
Internal Mail Service (Thunder Bay)
Internal departmental mail delivery days are normally Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Delivery days may change due to staff shortages or vacation. Stat holidays being the exception.
No personal mail is processed through the University Mail Services.
Please address all interoffice mail with name and department designation. (No Initials please.)
Please give the mail staff notice when sending large mail outs or packages. Please sort outgoing mail into locations: Local, Canada, USA and International. Please provide your budget code with the mailout.
Inter Campus Mail service (to Orillia) by Canpar
Internal mail service to Orillia goes out Tuesday and Thursdays by Canpar and should be in the mailroom by 2:00 pm. Rush mail may be sent to Orillia by courier but will be charged back to the sender.
We provide courier services that meet your needs and ensures the timely and professional delivery of your packages. Shipping methods and options available include Express, Expedited and Priority Courier through Canada Post, Purolator (Domestic or International), and CanPar.
All other courier services go through the Thunder Bay Shipping and Receiving Dept. please call (807-343-8010 ext. 8214).
All outgoing packages shipped through the mailroom via our courier services should have a completed mail request form. Please see the “Mail Services Request form” below. The completed form and corresponding good(s) to be shipped should be received by the mailroom before 2:00 pm to ensure they go out that same day. Cost of Courier Services depend on insurance, timeline, weight and dimensions. Parcels must be packaged and ready to go when brought to the mailroom. Packages to be sent internationally need to have a telephone number provided and list of contents and their value.
