Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate Program
Our TESL Certificate program is condensed into one online course, which you must complete in order to successfully complete the program. To meet TESL requirements, you must register for and complete the following courses:
- EDUC 8300 (ESL 1): English as a Second Language Certificate Program contains an introduction to teaching English as a second language, as well as content that addresses the professional issues associated with teaching English as a second language.
- English as a Second Language Practicum is a 20 hour, compulsory practicum that allows you to apply the knowledge that you learned in EDUC 8300.

- Practicum: Students have up to one (1) year from the end of the coursework to complete their practicum. The Department will provide support and suggestions for arranging your practicum.
Registration Requirements(s):
- Students whose first language is not English must provide proof of English language proficiency
- Upon completion of the TESL non-credit Certificate program, students must apply directly to TESL Canada to be TESL Certified (Includes your official transcript)
