Connector Program

Connect to opportunities in Northwestern Ontario with the Northwest Connector Program! Despite the large geographic area of Northwestern Ontario, the people in our communities are very connected. Everyone knows everyone. As a result, employers often turn to their networks for referrals when looking to hire. Up to 80% of available jobs never get posted on a job board. That means new grads who have yet to establish a professional network may be missing opportunities to put their skills to work here.

The Northwest Connector Program is an intentional, pay it forward, networking program that works in 3 simple steps:

  1. New graduates can apply to the program as a Connectee, where they will be matched with a local business and community leader (or Connector) in their field of interest.
  2. The two connect and discuss things like industry trends, market demand and local opportunities.
  3. The Connector then provides the Connectee with referrals to others in their network to meet and the whole process happens all over again.

The experience provides valuable insight into the local job market and sets the Connectee on the path to create their own success. The Connector gets to help cultivate new local talent, making their industry and our community grow stronger, more inclusive, and welcoming. It’s a win – win!
