Lakehead University’s campuses will be closed over the Thanksgiving long weekend. No classes are scheduled, and most on-campus services will be closed. Lakehead University’s residences will remain open.
Below is everything students need to know about what will be open over Thanksgiving weekend. We encourage you to plan ahead and contact student service teams ahead if you anticipate needing any services, resources, or support.

Student Health and Wellness services will close at 4:15 pm on Friday, October 9th and reopen on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. If you require mental health or wellness support, visit WellU Key to browse mental health resources and tools available.
If you’re experiencing a medical emergency, please go to the nearest hospital emergency department. For other issues, use Health 811 to speak to a registered nurse, or visit your nearest walk-in clinic.
Food retail service vendors will be closed on Thanksgiving on the Thunder Bay and Orillia campuses. They will remain closed during reading week, except Timber and Roast, which will be open Tuesday-Friday, 8:00 am-3:30 pm. Dan's Diner hours will remain the same as usual in Thunder Bay. For Thunder Bay and Orillia, the Residence Dining Hall will be open 10:30 am - 7:00 pm.
Lakehead Athletics facilities will be open on their regular hours through the weekend and will be closed on Monday for Thanksgiving. For more information regarding specific facility operations, please visit the Athletics website.
All Lakehead Libraries will be closed on Thanksgiving. For more information about library hours and locations please visit the library website. To access the library’s search tools and online resources, please visit the library website.
Lakehead International will be closed on Thanksgiving. This includes the International Student Lounge, International Student Services, Global ME, English Language Centre, and International Enrolment.
LUSU services may operate on different schedules during campus closures. Students should visit the LUSU website for current hours of operation and information about available services.
