| How do I check the status of my undergraduate application? |
To check the status of your application log into myServices and select Check My Application Status within the Admissions menu. You will be able to view your current application status, and if you are still waiting for admissions consideration, it’s okay, we will be in touch with you! |
| When can I drop a Full-Year course? |
You may drop a Full-Year course by Friday February 7th, 2025 without academic penalty for Lakehead University as per the Important Dates listed in the Academic Calendar. Be sure to connect with Student Central to discuss potential implications for government student aid funding (i.e. OSAP) and/or awards/scholarships/bursaries etc. Note that refund schedules may differ from the academic dates. |
| When can I drop a Winter Term course? |
You may drop a Winter Term course by Friday March 7th, 2025 without academic penalty for Lakehead University as per the Important Dates listed in the Academic Calendar. Be sure to connect with Student Central to discuss potential implications for government student aid funding (i.e. OSAP) and/or awards/scholarships/bursaries etc. Note that refund schedules may differ from the academic dates. |
| When can I register for Spring/Summer courses? |
Registration for Spring/Summer courses opens as of February 3rd, 2025. |
| When does registration open for the 2025/2026 Academic Year (Fall/Winter)? |
Typically registration opens in mid-June and into July by various year levels and programs for Fall/Winter registration. You will receive an email to your Lakehead email notifying you of these dates. |
| When is the last day to apply for OSAP for the 2024/2025 Academic Year? |
If you have been enrolled for Fall and Winter 2024/2025 or Winter only, you can still submit an OSAP application until February 18th for most programs of study!

| Is there an option to drop a course past the Academic Drop dates? |
Self-Late Withdrawals may be an option: Students may request a Self-Late Withdrawal for up to a maximum of 3.0 FCEs over the course of their studies at Lakehead (all years of study combined), up to and including the final day of class for the respective term. A Late Withdrawal will remain on the student's transcript, showing "W" (withdrawn). No credit will be retained and the course will not be included in the student's average calculation, or considered an attempt. Removal of the W is not permitted, and no refund of tuition fees will be provided for courses dropped through Self-Late Withdrawal. If you have any questions about the Self-Late Withdrawal process, do not hesitate to reach out to Student Central. The Self-Late Withdrawal option does not apply for the following: Graduate level courses, students in a Master’s or PhD program taking an undergraduate course, practica/internships/co-op or other experiential learning placements, exchange or courses taken at another institution, or students undergoing an academic misconduct investigation How to Self-Late WithdrawTo request a Self-Late Withdrawal, complete the Application for Self-Late Withdrawal, and return it to Registrarial Services by emailing the completed form to mywithdrawal@lakeheadu.ca. Note: You must submit an Application for Self-Late Withdrawal by emailing exclusively from your Lakehead University email address. | Can I still apply to Lakehead for Admission? |
We encourage you to apply! Lakehead University has three intake periods: Fall (September), Winter (January) and Spring/Summer (May/July). Note: For most programs, applications will still be accepted after the published deadline dates pending space availability. More details regarding applications that remain open can be found here |
| How can I check what's left for my program completion? |
A helpful self-service tool for understanding outstanding requirements is the "Degree Audit" / My Progress tool that you can access through your myInfo portal > Student tab > Academic Profile > My Program Requirements (Degree Audit). Be sure to connect with an advisor to help you understand your "audit" should you need further clarification. Always be sure to understand your program requirements as outlined in the Academic Calendar > select Programs & Faculties and choose from the program options. | Can I receive OSAP Funding for the Spring/Summer Terms? |
If you received full-time OSAP or Ontario Learn and Stay Grant (OLSG) for the most recent Fall-only, Fall/Winter or Winter-only term(s), you may be eligible to extend your Fall, Fall/Winter or Winter-only OSAP or OLSG application to cover some of your Spring/Summer courses. Eligibility for Spring/Summer ExtensionsEligibility for Spring/Summer Extensions are determined by the credit weight of the course(s) you will be taking, as well as the length of the course(s), in weeks. If you received funding in the previous term, you may qualify for an OSAP or OLSG Spring/Summer Extension if you are and undergraduate student taking any of the following course combinations:
*FCEs = Full Course Equivalents The Spring/Summer OSAP Extension form opens March 1st via a Google Form found here. What If You Did Not Receive Full-Time OSAP or OLSG the Previous Term?If you did not receive OSAP or OLSG funding in the previous semester you must apply on the OSAP website for the Spring/Summer session. You will also need to be registered in at least 1.5 Full Course Equivalents over a minimum of 12 weeks (i.e. the entire Spring/Summer term), otherwise you will not qualify for full-time OSAP or OLSG. |
