• This workshop will take participants through the phases of creating and grading assessments in the quiz tool.   Topics will include:

• setting up questions in the various formats

• setting the timing settings of the quiz

• setting up special access times for specific students writing at a different time or who are allowed extra time to write

• previewing the quiz as the students will see it

• viewing the results and statistics of the quiz

• grading any questions that were not automatically graded

• making the grades available to students

• checking User Progress to see how students are progressing through and interacting with your online course

An online Activity/Assessment primer

Together in this (approximately) 5-hour course you will explore different activity used during online teaching and learning, and will consider ways that we can assess learning through technology.

This short course, is a combination of online self-directed study through D2L, and synchronous delivery through Zoom. It is recommended that you allocate approximately 2.5-hour each of the two course days to engage in activities.

Registration is limited to 12 participants and is for Lakehead University faculty and teaching staff. This course runs November 17th and 18th.

Introduction to Indigenous Content Requirement

This workshop will provide an opportunity for relationship building while hearing a short overview of the Indigenous Content Requirement at Lakehead University. A framework for interweaving Indigenous approaches into your curriculum, and how the Indigenous Curriculum Specialist can support you in your work will be shared. Together in this (approximately) 5-hour course on fostering learning online we will look to identify ways of bridging your face-to-face teaching practices to an online learning environment. Critical elements of effective teaching (motivation, communication, and administration) don’t change when you relocate to a virtual classroom environment. The approaches we use to include them DO. This course will help you develop techniques that will protect these elements when you shift to your online classroom.

This is a short course, which will span 1 week. It is recommended that you allocate approximately 1-hour a day to engage in asynchronous activities. There will be a 1 hour (approximately) live meet-up on the final day.

Registration is limited to 12 participants and is for Lakehead University faculty and teaching staff. This course runs from October 5th to the 9th.

Introduction to Zotero

Description: Zotero is a free and convenient tool that can be used to help you manage information for your research, insert citations into your writing and easily create bibliographies. This session will provide an overview of how Zotero can support your work throughout the research process, with hands-on opportunities to practice using the tool. In preparation for this session, please ensure that you have downloaded Zotero to your computer.
