Teaching and Learning through E-Learning
This course was developed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. It provides practical online teaching strategies (for elementary and secondary) that are rooted in theory and will benefit educators today and in a post-Covid educational landscape. In their keystone project, candidates will apply these strategies to construct a mini-unit of online instruction for their grade and subject of choice. While candidates will examine and discuss various learning platforms, technology tutorials are not the focus of the course. As they develop the their online teaching practice, candidates will critically examine:
- the theoretical foundations of e-learning
- instructional design strategies
- assessment and evaluation in e-learning
- best practices in synchronous and asynchronous online teaching and ethical considerations related to e-learning
