Math Skills Development (P/J) - YA

The Department of Professional Development is pleased to offer the 36 hour non-credit course “Math Skills Development” for students at the Faculty of Education.

The Math Skills Development course has been created for students who are either concerned about their mathematical competency, and/or wish to strengthen their mathematical understanding.

This course is taught following the principles of 'reform' instruction, consistent with the 2005 revised Ontario curriculum emphasis on teaching for understanding rather than on rote application of rules. It will provide opportunities to increase your understanding of math concepts through hands-on activities, discussion, and problem solving. Basic mathematical concepts at the Grades 4-7 level will be addressed; however, you will not be taught algorithms in order to memorize and apply them.
