Teaching Students Digital Citizenship: A Cyber Bullying Initiative
This interactive, non-credit workshop provides all teachers, regardless of stream, with an overview of cyber bullying and criteria for embedding digital citizenship curriculum into his or her teaching praxis.
Participants will work together to create manifesto for their classrooms on Web 2.0 safe practices. This workshop involves the following activities:
- Creating a safe classroom digital citizenry manifesto
- Reflecting on how bullying has impacted their life and the lives of those close to them
- Experimenting with activities that can be used in their classroom to promote diversity
- Sharing knowledge through class discussion on strategies to protect oneself and others
- Working against peer to peer bullying
