Communicating Effectively
Communication is a 21st century learning skill and good communication between teachers and parents does not just happen; it requires planning and skill.
This non-credit workshop will explore the ways in which teachers communicate both intentionally and unintentionally with students, colleagues, school administration, the community, and parents.
During this workshop, you will learn how to:
- Project a positive image
- Create conditions for learning that invite student voice
- Deliver descriptive feedback to help students move forward
- Engage parents so that they help "co-produce learning with the school and the community
- Write notes, letters, and report card comments that send an appropriate and intended message
- Respond appropriately in difficult or contentious circumstances
