Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario and now residing in Oakville, Ontario, James is the Chief Risk Officer of Medavie. James has worked in the financial services industry since graduating from the Bachelor of Commerce program at Lakehead University in 1999, and has since held various roles in risk management and regulatory organizations including as the Chief Risk Officer of Questrade Financial Group, as well as senior risk roles at Great West Life, the Bank of Montreal and the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI). James takes pride in always being an active volunteer, including through his roles with a running and triathlon group, a local food bank, numerous other community and industry associations, as well as having served on Lakehead's Board of Governors in 2007-2009.
