Cameron Holmstrom

Cameron was born and raised in Kenora, Ontario, he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in French with a minor in History, and a Bachelor of Education through the Concurrent Education program at Lakehead University. He is a proud citizen of the Métis Nation from Treaty 3 territory.
After starting his professional career as a teacher and a federal civil servant, he spent nearly a decade working on Parliament Hill for three different Members of Parliament. He gained extensive experience working a wide variety of policy areas, including in the policy development process. He also gained extensive experience working with parliamentary processes, an expertise in parliamentary procedure and the development of legislation. Among his proudest achievements was being involved with the development and drafting of the UNDRIP legislation brought forward by NDP MP Romeo Saganash.
Since leaving Parliament Hill, Cam has been working in the government relations and public affairs. In June 2022 he started Niipaawi Strategies, an Indigenous-owned public affairs and government relations firm in Eastern Ontario, where he is the Founder and Principal. He is also a trusted voice and a sought-after political pundit, appearing regularly in many television, radio and print outlets throughout the country. He has worked on more than a dozen political campaigns at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels, including NDP three leadership campaigns. Cameron is married to his much better half, Allison, and is proud father to their daughter Lorraine. In his spare time in the winter, he can be found at the rink cheering on his daughters’ pursuits in speedskating and the summers, he can be found close to family on Shoal Lake.
