Safety and Security
The security guards maintain a strong presence on campus during all hours of operations. In addition to regular patrols, the guards are equipped to meet most emergencies including fires, and non-life threatening injuries. Any concerns relating to trespassing, suspicious activity or vandalism will be met with an immediate response.
The security personnel are friendly, helpful and courteous. In addition to their regular duties, the guards are always willing to escort students to their vehicles or bus stop after dark.

Mobile Safety App
Our MobileSafety app includes emergency contacts, a safety toolbox, and other important resources available at the touch of a button. The app allows users to easily access our walk-safe program, to quickly contact security if needed, and to use tools that can help in an emergency.
The app is available through the Apple Store and Google Play.
Safe Walk Program
This service is available for all students, staff and faculty members. If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe walking alone, you can be accompanied to your vehicle or bus stop by a member of the Lakehead security staff.
Campus Watch
The aims and objectives of this program are to encourage safety, reducing the opportunity for personal injury, crime and unreported incidents. While maintaining a safe, secure and healthy campus environment.
Campus Watch will help to ensure a safe working and living environment for students, staff, faculty and visitors.
K.I.T - Keep in Touch
K.I.T stands for Keep In Touch. If you are working after hours or on weekends in a lab or office, let security know. You can advise us by a simple call to extension 8569 in Thunder bay or 2009 in Orillia.
Our patrol staff will check in on you. You can also arrange with the Security Communications Desk to call you at a predetermined time.
