In 2012, Chaplaincy Services marked its 40th ministry year at Lakehead University. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Thunder Bay, Ontario has provided on-campus Chaplaincy Services since 1972. Sister Alice has served as Chaplain of Lakehead University for 22 of these 40 years. Her ministry as Chaplain of Lakehead University began in 1990.

Chaplaincy Services

As the University Chaplain, Sister Alice Greer is available to serve the whole University Community, regardless of religious denomination. Students and their family, Staff, and Faculty are most welcome to contact her.

The main counselling topics Sister Alice attends are:

  • Spiritual: Vocational, Sacraments, Personal, Church Information
  • Grief: Personal, Family, Surgery, Change
  • Addictions: Alcohol, Drugs, Gambling/Spending

Sister Alice is also available to provide seminars on such topics as:

Specific groups that Sister Alice works with on-campus are the:

About Sister Alice

I was born and raised in Port Arthur (now Thunder Bay). I attended Roman Catholic schools in the city until I started high school when I transferred to Hillcrest High. I received my post- secondary education by first taking the two-year Social Work program at Confederation College. Later, I received my BA with a major in Psychology from Lakehead University. I then went on to complete a Masters in Education (Curriculum) from Central Michigan University. A few years later I attended the University of Toronto where I accomplished my Doctor of Education (Administration). I am a member of a Religious Congregation namely The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie. I am currently on the Congregation’s Leadership Team. In addition, I am the Vocation Director for the Congregation.
