Transition to University

Congratulations! You are about to embark on a very exciting phase of your life! Lakehead University is thrilled to be a part of this endeavor and we hope to make the transition to post-secondary education smooth and simple.

Transition Planner for Students with Disabilities

To aid students in the transition process, we have prepared a Transition Planner. The Planner includes important contact information, keys to understanding your individual learning styles, an outline of the information we require, and, most importantly, links to Student Accessibility Services (SAS). Through SAS, you will encounter eager and supportive staff who want to make your time at Lakehead University a truly positive and valuable experience.

Transition Program for High School Students with Disabilities

The Transition Program for Students with Disabilities is a joint program hosted by Lakehead University and Confederation College. It is a one-day program offered each spring and is funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities. This program will introduce prospective students and their parents to the supports and services available at University and College. The goal of the program is to create a smooth transition between high school and post-secondary education for students with disabilities.

Registration information is sent to Thunder Bay's Local and Regional High School Special Education/Guidance Offices in the spring of each year.
