Bachelor of Arts (Indigenous Learning Major) - Bachelor of Education I/S (Intermediate Senior Division)

Introduction

Our Bachelor of Arts (Indigenous Learning Major) – Bachelor of Education – Intermediate Senior Division program allows you to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in Indigenous Learning while concurrently pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree.

An image of a woven itemOur BA (Indigenous Learning) – BEd programs, in partnership with Indigenous Learning, offers a unique learning experience that provides you with the skills and knowledge to appreciate and share Indigenous traditions, teachings, and practices with diverse learning groups. We deliver these programs using experiential methods, helping you to develop your academic abilities as well as your physical, emotional, and spiritual knowledge.

Once you complete this five-year program, we will recommend you for certification by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)

Program Information

An image of moccasinsOur BA (Indigenous Learning) – BEd program requires you to complete three years of course work and two professional years of teaching. The professional years each consist of two, five week student teaching placements in either a Band-operated and/or provincial school, while the course work portion allows you to complete courses in the following subjects:

  • Indigenous Learning
  • Ojibwe/Cree
  • English
  • Indigenous Technology & Design
  • Mathematics
  • Education

During your program, no matter the division, you must maintain an average of at least 65% in all courses.
